A Day of Art, Animals & Sanctuary
Join us for a full-day sketching and drawing workshop led by professional wildlife artist Alison Nicholls. Inspired by the African Art Safaris she leads, Alison will guide participants through sketching animals from life — this time, with the beloved residents of Arthur’s Acres as your models.
Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply excited to try something new, this workshop is designed to be welcoming, creative, and full of inspiration.
Full-Day Workshop
Spend the day learning from professional wildlife artist Alison Nicholls in a relaxed, inspiring sanctuary setting.
Guided Sanctuary Tour
Begin the day with a welcome tour and meet some of the rescued residents who call Arthur’s Acres home.
Basic Sketching Supplies
We’ll provide basic sketching materials, so you can simply arrive ready to create.

Enjoy a delicious plant-based lunch during a mid-day break at the sanctuary.

Alison Nicholls lived in the southern African countries of Botswana and Zimbabwe for several years and returns annually to sketch and paint, work with conservation organizations, and lead Art Safaris for Africa Geographic.
She is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, Artists For Conservation, and Urban Sketchers. In 2025, her art was accepted for exhibitions by the American Impressionist Society, Society of Animal Artists, and Hudson Valley Art Association. One of her paintings also appeared in the July issue of Artists Magazine as part of Splash 26: The Best of Watercolor.
Alison sketches in pencil and pen, and paints with watercolor or fluid acrylic. She has generously offered to lead this workshop free of charge, allowing proceeds from the event to directly support Arthur’s Acres.
